Dear Sir,
I write to inform you that I have named my new Cavalier , King Charles Spaniel after both yourself, and a long standing late friend, Harold, commonly called Harry. He died of cancer on September 30 2011.

Harold came from Wakefield , Yorkshire and I am representing him on May 25 2013 at a celebration luncheon of his old football team. This to honour the 50 years since his football team won a major trophy.in Yorkshire on May 22 1963 . Harold was the team’s goal keeper and was regarded highly for his goal keeping skills.

The son of the captain of the team , Professor Dave Waddington from Sheffield University , has documented the history of Fryston in a book . I am led to believe that he is calling it “Coal, Goals and Ashes: Fryston’s Colliery’s Pursuit of the West Riding County FA Cup Challenge .“

I collected 3 year old Harry in early October 2012 after I had returned from Eden .NSW . I had been to Eden to recommit a bottle to the ocean . In that bottle was the story of my Scottish Grannie’s life .

I acknowledged the 100 years of her journey to Australia, from Glasgow, in an unusual way – by throwing a bottle overboard . Originally the bottle was put overboard by me, in a 4 metre swell, south of Albany , Western Australia in the Southern Ocean . We were 60 nautical miles out to sea. The bottle washed back in and was found by a Perth fisherman as flotsam on the beach . The fisherman’s wife returned it to me in late July 2012…..

Harry was originally a rescue dog .My dog breeder , Mrs Rhonda Callaghan , has spent a lifetime working with Cavaliers – breeding them , showing them at Dog Shows and looking after rescue dogs ( dogs needing to be rehoused)

Harry did not come to Rhonda as Harry –we renamed him Harry, as he is a Jack the Lad . Harold was also the absolute larrikin . With due respect, the name fitted aptly to my new Blenheim Cavalier.

Harry is divine Cavalier . He has the most elegant and graceful walk ; the children in my neighbourhood love giving him pats and cuddles , and he is very much adored by all who meet him.

In my home, he has settled into a life of luxury. I hear his wonderful gentle snores. Harry always keeps me company when I work on the computer ; lying on the floor alongside me. He is a good mate to my other Cavalier, an elderly lady of 12. Sadly , Raine passed away on March 31 2013.

I read recently in the Press where you may be coming to Australia in October 2013 . I realize that your schedule will be very busy . However, should there be the opportunity, I know that you would be pleased to shake paws with my Harry, a Cavalier, King Charles Spaniel dutifully named after “the two Harrys…”….

I enclose 2 photos of Harry – but they do fail to do him justice .
