There May be a Council Election, but some Candidates are Absent in Third Ward ,Bayside Council., Sydney.
My letter box on the Moorefield Estate, Kogarah has received Andrew Tsounis leaflet ,the independent team for which I am a No 2 candidate ; a Peaceful Bayside leaflet and a Liberal Party leaflet , but none from any of the other candidates in Third Ward.
I have not received any ALP literature in my letterbox. They may have not wanted to publicise that their lead candidate is only 21, with no real life experience under his belt. What were the ALP thinking?
The Greens are absent too .They were possibly too busy wrapping some illegal signs around Ausgrid poles, and attaching corflutes to sites, to letter box. Their so called “defacto Green- tinged friends “had put signs illegally on Ausgrid poles , but they took most of their tsunami of signs down after substantial resident complaints . And once they realised that there would be a substantial fine to be imposed by Ausgrid.
Does the lack of connection to my letterbox reflect on 1) lack of man power to deliver election flyers with their policies stated on them or 2) limited finances to complete a mail out; or 3) does it reflect arrogance from some candidates that they don’t have to do much work, as people will vote anyway for the political parties : ALP , Liberal , Greens, Peaceful Bayside. 4) or does it reflect that posts on social media are enough to win the resident’s vote?
Demographics across Bayside Council have changed since the last Council election in December 2021 .The newly enrolled voters in Bayside Council, hopefully , will recognise the continued valuable role of Independents in the Council decision- making process ,so that the political parties are held accountable for their decisions.
This is going to more important in the next Council term , as we fight the increased densification of our suburbs , loss of heritage and our local character ,all about to be imposed by the current ALP State Government .
And on September 14 2014 when you go to vote ,don’t forget to check the preference flow .A genuine Independent will not give or receive preferences.
Peaceful Bayside are preferencing the Greens , and the Greens are most likely preferencing Peaceful Bayside. Peaceful Bayside have printed online their How toVote cards in Wards 1 , 2,3 and 4, indicating this preference swap. In Ward 5, Peaceful Bayside are not giving preferences. The Greens in Ward 5 are however sending their preferences to Peaceful Bayside.
This means that if the Greens don’t get elected with Peaceful Bayside preferences , then Peaceful Bayside could get elected with Green preferences. Be vote wise for the future of Bayside Council.
