Come along to Tempe House, Wolli Creek on Saturday May 15 2021 at 11am to hear Moorefield Racecourse Kogarah Sydney (1888-1951) come alive again.
Author, Anne Field, a former secondary teacher and Local Government Councillor, will talk about her book, which she published in October 2016.
Anne will talk about the background to her Moorefield Racecourse book, and to the locational features of Moorefield Racecourse. In addition, she will cover horses, jockeys, trainers and stables ; some trainers walked their horses from Tempe , Rockdale and Sans Souci, as there were no horse floats until the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. Marshall Street (broadcasting) and Kogarah Golf Club will be mentioned.
The sale of the course, and the development of St George Tafe, James Cooks Boys and Moorefield Girls, along with the Moorefield Estate, will be covered.
Anne will bring some display material on Moorefield Racecourse. Books are available for sale. Cash only $30.
