The Ninth Anniversary of Harold’s Passing September 30 2020

Harold with one of the many fish he caught. I am holding another fish which Harold caught on a fishing boat in the Indian Ocean, early September 2003.

Harold and i enjoyed a wonderful week’s adventure in Broome, Western Australia in early September 2003. I had always wanted to visit Broome. We flew to Broome via Alice Springs, which allowed us to see the unique outback desert landscape from the plane.

Whilst in Broome, we went out on a day fishing trip into the Indian Ocean. Lunch was cooked fish, which had been caught that morning. I did not fish; I however enjoyed the experience. There were 4 women on board –one fished, I observed the  goings on, one was seasick for half a day and one was seasick all day.

On the return journey into Broome, I was the first person to notice a whale breaching out of the Indian Ocean. What a magnificent sight –I still think of this amazing experience today.

At the end of the day, the fish, which were tagged, were lined up on the deck and then distributed to those who caught them.

I have so many memories of our travels throughout Australia. One of our best holidays was to Perth, Kalbarri and Monkey Mia  in January 2004. I had planned to do this again in June 2020 – Covid 19 put paid to that.

Harold would be delighted to know that his team, Leeds United is now finally back in the Premier League.

I miss my larrikin Yorkshireman who in his life was a fisherman, rode a Jackson plank surfboard, loved the beach, played the round ball game until he was 40 years of age,  was a good dancer and loved travelling Australia.
