THE  SEARCH FOR THE MOOREFIELD GOLD CUP

I am currently working on the History of Moorefield Racecourse , Kogarah (1888-1951).  I  am hoping  to launch my book in July 2016, 65 years to the date of the last race meeting at Moorefield .Racecourse .

The launch is expected to take place   in the James Cook Boys Technology High School , Assembly Hall ., Princes Highway , Kogarah . The school  is built on the old racecourse,  and  James Cook Boys High School will also reach a significant milestone  in 2016, sixty years of education .

The Moorefield Gold Cup was raced from 1924 until 1935,. In 1936 it was renamed the Peter Moore Gold Cup . It had slight variations in its name to the Peter Moore Handicap (Cup) and was usually run in January each year.

I would be delighted if I could locate the  Moorefield Gold Cup,so that it could feature in the book launch . A published history of Moorefield will certainly add to the long over-due recognition in our racing  history, of this wonderful racecourse , which  was known affectionately as “The Goat Track “

I can be reached at my email address ko77582@bigpond.net.au.   or my P0 Box 391 Kogarah . 2217.
