My Car Annabella
I read with interest “ Preserve Our Cars “in the January/ February 2012 edition of the Open Road .
I have always appreciated the significance of old things . On June 2 2012 , I sold my 1980 Toyota Corolla to an apprentice mechanic. I was the only owner of this car , Whilst she was in good condition for her 31 years , I know that the new owner will further improve her . He intends to show her at Toyota Car Club Shows.
Annabella was a fixture around Kogarah for many years , and always received admiring looks when I drove her. Her bright yellow colour ensured that she stood out Occasionally, in the local area, I would pass another yellow 1980 Toyota Corolla. The young driver and I would honk the horn and wave to each other !
My Annabella travelled 340,808 kms (this is equivalent to almost 54 times around the world) in my care ; and she simply never let me down . The apprentices at Fergusons Toyota always loved to work on her , as her engine was so simple in comparison to the high technology engines of today’s cars.
There is value in preserving old cars. I am delighted when I look on the Toyota Car Club site at the work enthusiasts put into restoring their cars.

PS
I sadly learned from Kavel, in a text message, that on June 27 2013 Annabella was written off . He had on sold the car to a friend and he wrote it off in the week of heavy rain in late June 2013. Kavel bought the wreck back for parts in another Corolla he is restoring.
Annabella has gone to car heaven after all these years.
